Here is a piece of satire in the form of a gun-control cartoon by Steve Kelly. This cartoon did not appear in a magazine, it was made online. This cartoon focuses on gun control and has a number of elements used in satire. First off I believe situational irony is present, due to the fact that you think they’ll do something after the first killing but no, they wait until he uses a gun or worst case scenario. Second i believe is exaggeration, i believe this because he makes it seem how fixing the system (to where there gun laws) will fix the problems with murder and violence. Third in my opinion is tone because when he kills the man the first three times he is disgusted by saying “ what's the matter with you? “ but when he kills him the fourth time he’s becomes concerned and wants change after its too late. In conclusion the real problem here is not the gun, It’s the GUNMAN. when something like this happens people will think that the man was the killer and the gun was the accomplice, then he pleads insane and then the whole murder or massacre was the guns fault, leading to gun laws and gun free zones for gunmen to stay away from like an invisible barrier that they’ll never cross into. The point is to not change after the murder, but before to prevent it from happening. |
We plan to create a newspaper story on Teen Idols on Miley Cyrus. We intend to fix the problems she has or has done in her past and present. We feel that this is a horrible role model for kids who once thought of her as a good role model for kids to watch in her old show “Hannah Montana”. First off our newspaper story aims to satirize articles about Miley Cyrus and her twerking. It’s theme is to describe how celebrities go overboard on trying to make money. Therefore the tone for our newspaper article is sympathetic since she was once a very powerful role model but then fell from her empire of Hannah Montana and turned into a life of riding wrecking balls and twerking at TV events. The appreciation and sympathy that we have for Miley Cyrus may be outrageous, then again she has a lot of fans who dislike her. Therefore we intend to use irony and sarcasticness to extend the product’s twerk affluenza awareness for young teens and children that first started with the 1st experiment on Miley Cyrus and obviously it has gone terribly wrong. We’re using sarcasm to describe how awesome Miley Cyrus is and how she should make more semi-nude videos where she touches herself and practically tells everybody its ok to reveal yourself on public screenings and be outrageous in music videos to gain fame when she just really wants attention to herself. Miley Cyrus initially intended for her to help her young fans. She claims to help them by educating them by sexuality, but initially it makes it worse cause kids will do the exact same thing as her. She intends to help little kids by twerking. Maybe we can learn a twerk or two from Miley Cyrus. Thus, the audience expects Miley to show kids proper techniques for fire safety, and they end up getting a morally corrupt person teaching them bad things. In conclusion we plan to fix the “ I’ll do something outrageous so I can get recognized and be famous like movie stars” idea that young teens and children take in like a drug that Miley Cyrus does like every day. So they get a taste of Miley Cyrus’s “wanna be fairytale and do all the stuff I want” reality.
